JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Minnesota State tennis stayed undefeated in conference matches with a 5-2 win over University of Jamestown Saturday afternoon at Two Rivers Activity Center.

The Mavericks took the team doubles point, including a 6-0 win for Lucie Sliskova and Alma Vazquez at No. 2 over Laia Vallespi and Sydney Friesen. In singles, Sliskova defeated Mariia Sharandachenk 6-1, 6-2 and Vazquez topped Anna Sharandachenko 6-4, 6-4. Taina Cordeiro defeated Sydney Friesen 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 and Amanda Blanco-Epple prevailed over Laia Vallespi 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5.

"Today was a great day for our team as a whole," said head coach Drew Hawthorne. "Jamestown is a solid team with a lot of talent. We played tough, smart and disciplined across the board to win. Amanda was down a set and 3-0 in the second and came back. She did a terrific job of resetting. A major victory for us this weekend was Alma and Lucie in doubles. They've done a remarkable job making changes recently and their hard work is paying off."

The Mavericks (6-2, 5-0 NSIC) have five regular season matches left on the calendar. Up next is St. Cloud State on Saturday, March 28 at Noon CT in Rogers, Minn.
