MANKATO, Minn. –
Tristan Lemyre led the Mavericks with two goals and one assist and No. 16 Minnesota State pulled away from No. 19 Michigan Tech 7-2 in the CCHA Mason Cup Semifinals on Saturday.
Reid Morich added his second career multi-goal game and goaltender
Alex Tracy notched 24 saves at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. Seven goals were the most the Mavericks have scored in a game this season.

The Mavericks (21-10-7, 14-7-5 CCHA) host No. 18 St. Thomas (21-11-5, 15-7-4 CCHA) in the Mason Cup Championship for the second straight year on Friday, March 20 at 7:07 p.m. CT. St. Thomas reached the final after defeating No. 13 Augustana 2-1 on Saturday.

The Huskies controlled play for much of the opening ten minutes, but the Mavericks took advantage of their first shot attempt with a goal at 8:15 from
Ean Somoza. With the puck loose in the left corner,
Alex Zetterberg fed Somoza, who spun and fired a low shot to the far post for his eighth of the year.

Just over three minutes later,
Evan Murr took a shot from the right point and picked up a deflection by
Liam Watkins. Lemyre found the loose puck and buried his team-leading 14
th goal of the season for a 2-0 lead.

The Mavericks wasted little time extending the lead to 3-0.
Luigi Benincasa tipped in his 10
th of the year off
Mason Wheeler's shot from the left side. Lemyre added his 18
th assist on the play at even strength.

Lemyre collected his second tally of the game in the second period with a high wrist shot off the rush from the top of the circle.
Liam Watkins and Benincasa assisted at 4:22. Tom Leppa got the Huskies on the scoreboard with a goal just over a minute later, assisted by Kalem Parker and Matthew Van Blaricom but the Mavericks continued to pour it on, with two goals from
Reid Morich and one goal from
Fin Williams for a 7-1 advantage before the second intermission. Isaac Gordon scored the only third period goal for either team for MTU.

Last season, the Mavericks defeated St. Thomas in the Mason Cup Championship game 4-2 to win the title for the third time since the CCHA realignment.
