MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State men's hockey was ranked No. 18 by USCHO.com and USA Hockey on Monday, February 23, in NCAA Division I national polls. The Mavericks took five of six points at Bowling Green last weekend, with a 5-4 win on Friday and a 1-1 overtime tie on Saturday at Slater Family Ice Arena. The Mavericks won the shootout in round six.
Michigan State received 49 of 50 first place votes to remain the top ranked team in the nation, followed by Michigan, North Dakota, Western Michigan and Penn State. Other ranked teams in the CCHA included No. 15 Augustana, No. 16 Michigan Tech and No. 17 St. Thomas. Bowling Green was receiving national votes.
The Mavericks (17-9-6, 13-7-4 CCHA) conclude the regular season when it hosts Northern Michigan on Friday, February 27 at 7:07 p.m. CT and Saturday, February 28 at 6:07 p.m. CT at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. Both games can be streamed via midcosportsplus.com and heard on AM 1420 KTOE. Five teams remain in contention to win the MacNaughton Cup with one weekend to play in the conference.
