WACO, Texas --- Following a 49-7 Homecoming win over Concordia-St. Paul last weekend, the Minnesota State football team held its fifth spot in the AFCA Poll and the third spot in the D2Football.com Poll.
The AFCA Poll saw the top-eight teams hold their positions in the rankings, including Ferris State which continued to top the poll with 31 first-place votes and 775 points. Harding followed in second with 744 points, while Kutztown and CSU Pueblo earned 704 points and 672 points, respectively. The Mavericks garnered 651 points also.
MSU is one of two NSIC teams to appear in the AFCA Poll. Northern State entered the poll at 25th after besting Bemidji State 16-9 last weekend. Minnesota Duluth and Wayne State are receiving votes.
The D2Football.com Poll saw the Mavericks hold their #3 spot in the rankings following both Ferris State and Harding. MSU is one of three NSIC teams ranked in the top-25. Minnesota Duluth was ranked 18th, while Northern State was ranked 22nd.
Minnesota State returns to action on the road this Saturday as it takes on the Winona State Warriors. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
