Mavericks Roll Past Minot State for 10th Straight Win

MANKATO, Minn. The Minnesota State volleyball team (10-0, 2-0 NSIC) continued its unbeaten run with a dominant sweep of Minot State (1-9, 0-2 NSIC) on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Taylor Center.

Avery Rosenberg powered the Mavericks' offense, delivering 17 kills on just 24 swings for an efficient, team-high 18.0 points. Mary Satori showcased her all-around impact with nine kills and a match-leading five service aces, finishing with 15.0 points. Matching her total was Avery Klein, who turned in 13 kills giving the right side hitter a  .565 hitting percentage. Orchestrating the attack, setter Jadyn Lester tallied 40 assists, consistently setting up her hitters and keeping the Maverick offense in rhythm.

The first set opened with a back-and-forth exchange, as both teams traded points early before the Mavericks began to settle in. Klein sparked the momentum with an early kill assisted by Ellie Kline, setting the tone for MSU. Rosenberg and Satori helped maintain the edge with multiple kills, each set up by Lester's precise passing. A key turning point came late in the set when Rosenberg and Satori combined for a crucial block, swinging the momentum fully in the Mavericks' favor and sealing a 25-17 victory for the home team.

The Mavericks jumped out to an early lead in the second set, starting with a kill from Satori off a pass from Kline. Klein quickly followed with back-to-back kills, with help from Lester, to make it 3-0. From there, Minnesota State stayed in control, using smart plays to keep the pressure on. Satori added a key service ace, and Klein continued to shine with several more kills. She eventually closed out the set with a decisive swing, giving the Mavericks a 25-21 win after a Minot State service error.

MSU opened the third set with a commanding performance, quickly establishing a 7-3 lead with key plays from Rosenberg, who tallied multiple kills, and service aces by Satori. They capitalized on Minot State's errors and maintained their momentum with Lester assisting on multiple scoring plays, extending the lead to 14-6. Despite a brief exchange of points, the Mavericks closed the set decisively at 25-12, highlighted by a late kill from Olivia Sturgis and an attack error from Minot State to secure the win.

Minnesota State continues its homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 23, with a 6 p.m. matchup against St. Cloud State at the Taylor Center in Mankato, Minn.
