EDMOND, Okla. –
Sailor Hall tossed a complete game to help Minnesota State defeat Pittsburgh State 5-1 in the second game of the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament Friday at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.

The Mavericks avoided elimination and play again at 6:15 p.m. vs. Rogers State University.

Ryanne Mellum walked with the bases loaded in the top of the third inning. Hall came around to score after she led off the inning with a base hit up the middle.

In the top of the fifth inning,
Marina Carter walked and
Carly Kimmes bunted for a single.
Cheyenne Behrends doubled to left field to score Carter, but the relay from third base resulted in Kimmes being tagged out at home plate as the Mavericks took a 2-0 lead.

Hannah Tong and
Ryanne Mellum notched back-to-back singles for a 4-0 advantage.
Maddie Helin made soft contact for an infield single to make it 5-0.

The Gorillas got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to right field but Hall retired all three hitters in the seventh behind a trio of strong infield plays to propel the Mavericks to their first win in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Hall allowed one earned run on five hits, walked two and struck out three. Ava Laurent allowed three earned runs, four hits in 4.1 innings for the Gorillas.
