MANKATO, Minn. --- Four members of the Minnesota State softball team have earned CSC Academic All-District honors for their efforts on the field and in the classroom this season.
Senior
Cheyenne Behrends, sophomore
Maddie Helin, sophomore
Izzy Hycnar and sophomore
Maddie Oetzmann were all named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. The Academic All-American Team will be announced on June 17.
A senior infielder from Clarksville, Iowa,
Cheyenne Behrends started in all 59 games for the Mavericks at third base this past season. She batted .307 with three home runs and 34 RBI. She also led the team in hits with 58 and in runs scored with 43. Behrends is majoring in elementary education and owns a 3.65 GPA.
A sophomore outfielder from Harris, Minn.,
Maddie Helin played in 57 games, including 54 starts, this past season. She led the team in home runs with seven and recorded 24 RBI and 39 runs scored. Helin led the team with a .514 slugging % and was named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Helin is majoring in communication sciences and disorders and owns a 3.62 GPA.
A sophomore infielder from Phoenix, Ariz.,
Izzy Hycnar played and started in 57 games this season at shortstop for the Mavericks. She batted .293 with 11 doubles, 35 RBI and 33 runs scored. Hycnar coaxed 27 walks and put together a .390 on-base %. Hycnar is majoring in aviation and owns a 3.63 GPA.
A sophomore pitcher from Urbandale, Iowa,
Maddie Oetzmann made 22 appearances in the circle for the Mavericks, including 15 starts. She threw two complete games and a shutout as she won six games, while boasting a 3.08 ERA. In 77.1 innings, Oetzmann struck out 63 batters. She is majoring in exercise science and owns a 3.91 GPA.
Minnesota State finished its 2025 season with a 39-20 record as it advanced to the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
