PUEBLO, Colo. – Minnesota State men's and women's track and field marked a successful day two of competition Friday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl.
Elise Jensen set a personal best to finish seventh (All-American) in discus throw. Jensen threw 49.64m (162-10) on her second attempt.
Grace Johnson impressed in 100 meter hurdles and posted the top time in prelims with a personal best 13.01 seconds.
Adeyah Brewster was fifth in the same event with a time of 13.34 and
Ashanti Harvey crossed sixth in 13.38 (personal best). All will appear in the finals on Saturday.
Esaba Okwaramoi was 12
th in prelims with a personal best time of 13.55 while
Noemie Thibaud came in 18
th with a time of 14.19.
Jalen McGee headlined men's 110 meter hurdle prelims with the 14
th best time for the Mavericks (14.03).
Viktoriia Ermolaeva accumulated 3,393 points in heptathlon to finish 14
th.
Thibaud finished in a tie for 10
th in high jump at a height of 1.68m (5-6).
Dylan Gross competed in discus throw and took 18
th place in his first season, with a mark of 49.06m (160-11) on his second toss.
Sheldon McNicholas came in 18
th in triple jump for the Mavericks, after he landed at 15.14m (49-8.25) on his first attempt.
Richlu Tudee clocked the 13
th best time in 200 meter prelims with a time of 20.83, good for fifth place in heat three.
Field events resume Saturday in Pueblo with women's pole vault at noon. Pittsburg State leads the men's team standings with 28 points. Minnesota State is tied for 30
th with three points. Grand Valley State leads the women's team standings with 34 points. The Mavericks are tied for 19
th place with five points.
