Mavericks Dominate Golden Bears in Midweek Sweep

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State baseball (37-4, 29-3 NSIC) delivered a dominant performance Wednesday afternoon, shutting out Concordia-St. Paul in a midweek doubleheader at Bowyer Field. The Mavericks posted a pair of statement wins, taking Game 1 by a score of 10-0 before securing a 6-0 victory in Game 2.

Game 1 – Minnesota State 10, Concordia-St. Paul 0
The Mavericks broke the game open early, scoring five runs in the second inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double from Louis Magers. MSU continued the offensive run with two more runs in the third and added three additional insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Matthew Fleischhacker led the Mavericks with a three-hit day and two RBIs, while Lincoln Berry went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. On the mound, Minnesota State's pitching staff was lights out, holding the Golden Bears to just two hits across seven innings.

Game 2 – Minnesota State 6, Concordia-St. Paul 0
Minnesota State wasted no time in the second game, with Berry launching a three-run homer in the first inning to set the tone. Berry's long ball would be all the Mavericks needed, but they added three more runs throughout the contest.

The MSU pitching staff continued its dominance in Game 2, combining for another shutout and holding Concordia-St. Paul to just two hits.

"I thought our pitching did a great job especially in middle of the week games, Mitch Gutknecht and Mack Crowley both did an outstanding job. If we can pitch well and play defense were going to give out team a chance to win." Said head coach Matt Magers.

The Mavericks gear up to face Augustana this weekend, with a double header on Saturday with the first pitch starting at 1:30 p.m. and a single game on Sunday to close out the series at noon.
