MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State junior
Alex Tracy (Chicago, Illinois) was named CCHA Goaltender of the Week on Monday. Senior
Josh Groll (San Diego, California) was also named CCHA Forward of the Week.
Groll led the Mavericks with three goals and two assists in a series sweep over Lake Superior State. Groll's first period goal on Friday was the eventual game-winner and as Maverick captain, he was the first to lift the MacNaughton Cup on Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Tracy, a Mike Richter Award semifinalist, made 32 saves in a 4-1 win on Saturday. The previous night, he collected his fourth shutout of the season in a 4-0 road victory on Friday over LSSU. Tracy totaled 63 saves on 64 shots over the weekend for a .984 save percentage. Tracy leads NCAA Division I in goals against average and is second in save percentage with four total shutouts.
The Mavericks have secured the CCHA regular season title and host Bemidji State on Friday and Saturday in the final weekend before the Mason Cup quarterfinals at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.
