BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Minnesota State junior Ghada Hamdani (Bizerte, Tunisia) was named NSIC Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday (Dec. 9). Hamdani competed at the Chuck Petersen Open to begin indoor track and field season on Friday and helped the Mavericks place first among seven schools.

Hamdani recorded the best mark in triple jump in NCAA Division II this year, at 12.93m (42-5.25). It was also the 17th farthest triple jump in Division II history to start the season. Last season, Hamdani was a First Team All-American in triple jump after she finished fourth at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. She was named NSIC Field Athlete of the Week twice during indoor season as a sophomore.

Minnesota State track and field competes next at the Bearson/Gathje Classic on January 16 at Myers Field House.
