CLEVELAND – Minnesota State University ranked 18
th in the Learfield Director's Cup fall standings among Division II institutions. The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
The Mavericks enjoyed great success in the fall. Football finished 10-4 and won two NCAA playoff games before falling to eventual national champion Ferris State in the NCAA quarterfinals. Soccer finished 18-1-4 and hosted the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The Mavericks fell in the second round to Washburn in a penalty kick shootout. Women's cross country made its first NCAA appearance since 2022 and placed 19
th at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The Mavericks ranked 20
th in the Learfield Director's Cup standings at the same point last season. MSU was also the top-ranked team in the Northern Sun in the fall. University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (RMAC) topped the Division II chart with 289.50 points, followed by Wingate (SAC), Colorado School of Mines (RMAC), Anderson (SAC) and Grand Valley State (GLIAC).
By finishing sixth among the 312 NCAA Division II members, the Mavericks ranked in the top two percent in 2024-25.

Learfield Sports Directors' Cup General Information
A program that honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup honors those programs achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's. Began in 1993-94 for Division I by NACDA and USA Today, it was expanded in 1995-96 to include Division II, III and the NAIA. Each institution is awarded points in a predetermined number of sports for men and women. The overall champion is the institution that records the highest number of points in their division's Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.
