MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State men's hockey rose two positions to No. 16 in Monday's USCHO.com National Division I Rankings Poll and one position to No. 18 in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live National Division I Rankings Poll. The Mavericks were the only team in the CCHA to appear in the rankings, though Michigan Tech and Augustana received votes. MSU is also the second highest ranked men's hockey team in the state of Minnesota, after Minnesota Duluth appeared at No. 7 this week.
Minnesota State (4-2-2, 1-1-0 CCHA) defeated St. Thomas on the road Friday night 3-1, then fell to the Tommies at home on Saturday 4-3 in overtime.
Liam Watkins led all skaters with four points in the series and
Alex Tracy totaled 48 saves in goal. MSU currently ranks fifth in Division I penalty kill percentage (.920)
The Mavericks host Bowling Green (2-3-1, 2-1-1 CCHA) on Friday, November 7 at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday, November 8 at 6:07 p.m. at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. Bowling Green went to overtime against Bemidji State twice last week, falling in a shootout Friday night and in the extra session on Saturday.
