MANKATO, Minn. – Senior
Anna Van Wyngarden was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, and sophomore
Lauren McAlpine earned NSIC Goalkeeper of the Year honors for their exceptional performances during the 2025 soccer regular season.
Van Wyngarden and McAlpine played pivotal roles in leading Minnesota State to a 16-1-2 overall record and a 13-1-1 mark in NSIC play.
Van Wyngarden anchored the Mavericks' defense in all 19 games, helping the team post 15 shutouts, including 12 in conference play. She started every match, leading a back line that allowed just six goals all season and held opponents to under three shots on goal per game. The senior defender also contributed offensively, recording two goals and two assists for six points on the year.
McAlpine started all 19 matches, logging 1,710 minutes between the posts — playing every minute of the season. She led the NSIC in goals-against average (0.33), save percentage (.917), and shutouts per game (0.80) in conference play. Overall, McAlpine finished the season with a 0.32 GAA and a .921 save percentage, ranking among the top goalkeepers in NCAA Division II. She recorded 15 shutouts, allowing just six goals all season, and was instrumental in Minnesota State's dominant defensive effort.
Joining Van Wyngarden and McAlpine on the All-NSIC First Team are junior
Maddix Archer and seniors
Courtney Kovacs and
Kiera Laney. Archer appeared in all 19 games, collecting three goals and three assists for nine points. Kovacs also played in every match, tallying three goals and five assists for 11 points, while Laney anchored the defensive unit with 19 starts and added one goal for two points.
Named to the All-NSIC Second Team were seniors
Avery Korsching and
Maille Mathis. Korsching recorded three goals and four assists for 10 points, while Mathis tallied four goals and four assists for a team-high 12 points among the second-team honorees.
The Mavericks return to action Friday at 1 p.m., hosting Concordia-St. Paul in the NSIC Tournament semifinals at The Pitch.
