MANKATO, Minn. — Minnesota State secured a decisive 2-0 victory over Bemidji State on Saturday. The game remained scoreless until the third period, when the Mavericks broke through with two goals to clinch the win. The Mankato team dominated the faceoff circle, winning 64% of the draws, and outshot the Beavers 33-25. The defense remained solid throughout, as the Mavericks' goaltender, freshman Kaydence Roeske, stopped all 25 shots faced to earn her first shutout of the season.

The first period commenced with Minnesota State securing the initial faceoff, setting the tone for a competitive opening frame. Despite multiple scoring opportunities, including shots from Makayla Moran and Lauren Goldsworthy, Ava Hills of Bemidji consistently denied the Mavericks, maintaining a scoreless game. The Mavericks effectively controlled the puck during power plays, but the Beavers' defense held firm. The period concluded without any goals, leaving the score tied at 0-0.

Minnesota State effectively killed an early penalty when Sophie Stramel was sent off for cross-checking at 00:21, as Bemidji failed to capitalize during their power play. Kaydence Roeske exhibited strong defensive work with multiple saves, protecting the net against a series of Beaver shots. Van Batavia scored the game-winning goal, contributing to her total of one goal and three shots. Bischoff also found the net, recording one goal from two shots, boosting the team's offensive efforts. Otremba excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 68% of her draws with 11 faceoffs won. Ava Guillemette led with an 80% faceoff win percentage, securing 8 of 10 faceoffs to help maintain possession.

Minnesota State will face off against No. 2 Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. CT at the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio.
