MANKATO, Minn. --- The Mavericks remained locked in and were to a scoreless draw against West Florida Sunday afternoon at The Pitch in non-conference soccer.
MSU and UWF went back and forth during the match and both teams generated few scoring opportunities.

Lauren McAlpine did make a crucial save in the first half of the game, punching the ball over the crossbar.

Avery Korsching finished the day with two shots on goal.
Head coach
Brian Bahl stated after the game, "We really battled and fought. It wasn't our cleanest day. A lot of that credit goes to West Florida. Their pressure is just incredible. We need to get better at handling that pressure so that we can play a more composed game. It was a great early season test. I think we are going to be a great team."
Minnesota State (1-0-1) travels to Missouri next week to take on Central Missouri (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Northwest Missouri State (Sunday, 1 p.m.).
