#22 Minnesota State Dominates Concordia St- Paul

MANKATO, Minn.-- No. 22 Minnesota State (2-1-2) dominated Concordia St-Paul (2-1-2) by a final score of 3-0 Friday afternoon at The Pitch.

The Mavericks jumped on the Golden Bears, coming out strong both offensively and defensively not only in the first half but the entire game.

In the 23rd minute, junior Avery Korsching got the Mavericks on the scoreboard after finding the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Freshman, Amara Smith added her first assist of the season.

Less than two minutes after Korsching's marker, freshman Alicia Hoffman found the top left corner of the net for her first goal of the season. Sophomore, Maddix Archer posted her first assist of the season.

Minnesota State kept the Golden Bears to a 2-0 deficit at halftime.

In the 75th minute, Anna Van Wyngarden came around and found the top of the net for her first goal of the season, making it 3-0.

"I think our pressure was more intense compared to where it had been," stated head coach Brian Bahl. "The sense of urgency to go at them from an attacking standpoint to get to the final zone to create chances to be brave. It was just a different mentality, we talked about it all week and to see them go out and execute it was something I was proud of."

No. 22 Minnesota state takes on Augustana at the Pitch on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
