BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State scored five in the second period and defeated Minnesota State 6-0 to win the CCHA regular season title and the MacNaughton Cup Friday at Sanford Center.

The loss ended the Mavericks' remarkable run of six straight MacNaughton Cup Championships. The Beavers won the storied trophy for the first time since 2016-17.

Minnesota State (16-13-4, 12-9-2) still has an opportunity to secure home ice in the opening round of the CCHA playoffs with their regular season finale against Bemidji State (16-15-2, 14-7-2) Saturday at 6:07 p.m. at Sanford Center.

Luke Strand. "We didn't execute on our looks and they did. Gut check tomorrow."

After a scoreless first period, Jackson Jutting posted the game's first marker at even strength 1:18 into the second. At the 9:57 mark, Jutting potted his second and the floodgates opened for Bemidji State. Donte Lawson, Eric Martin and Kasper Magnussen all put it across the line before the period break.

Adam Flammang made it 6-0 at 2:02 of the third as goaltender Mattias School locked down the shutout with 28 saves for the Beavers.

Alex Tracy took the loss in net for the Mavericks after allowing four goals on 27 shots.
Keenan Rancier also made seven saves after entering in the second period. MSU went 0-3 on the power play. The Beavers blocked 23 shot attempts.

Jutting finished with two goals, two assists for four points. Rhy Chiddenton notched a pair of assists.
