Kondas Called up by Toronto Sceptres

TORONTO, Ontario – Former Minnesota State defender Jess Kondas signed a 10-day Standard Player Agreement (SPA) with the Toronto Sceptres of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), announced on Friday.
 
Kondas has been on the Reserve Player list for Toronto since the inaugural season. This is the first time the 24-year-old from Calgary, AB has been called up to the main squad. She is expected to be in the lineup for her PWHL debut tonight against Boston. 
 
Kondas (Calgary, Alberta) played for the Mavericks from 2017-22. She skated in 154 games for the Purple and Gold and scored 12 goals with 22 assists and 34 points. She also recorded a pair of game-winning goals and 175 shots on goal. She was an assistant captain for the Mavericks in the 20-21 and 21-22 seasons. 
 
Kondas' call-up follows former Maverick defender Charlotte Akervik, who the Minnesota Frost signed on December 22.  
 
The Toronto Sceptres are one of six teams in the newly launched Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), which was founded in 2023. The PWHL began its inaugural season in January 2024 and features the best women's hockey players in the world. The PWHL has broken multiple attendance records and holds the worldwide record for a women's hockey game.
