KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Minnesota State's soccer team continues to shine on the national stage, with three standout players earning United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-American honors for their exceptional performances this season. Graduate student Defender
Lucy Weninger was named to the First Team, sophomore forward
Maddix Archer to the Second Team, and Senior goalkeeper
Clare Longueville to the Third Team.
This is the first time in history that three Mavericks have earned the USC All-American award.
They have helped the Mavericks go 17-1-7 this season and are preparing for a Final Four matchup tomorrow against Columbus State in Matthews, North Carolina.
Weninger, MSU's top defender, had one goal and one assist. She has started all 25 games this season, averaging roughly 85 minutes per game. Over her career, she has played in 53 games and has tallied one goal and four assists. She has anchored a defense that leads the nation in goals allowed per game.
Archer led MSU's offense, she was the top scorer with nine goals and eight assists and has played in all 25 games this year. She has four game winning goals, including the game winning goal against Minot State in the NSIC Tournament.
Longueville leads the nation in save percentage at .941 and is ranked number two nationally in goals against average at .24 per game.
MSU will be playing in the final four tomorrow December 13
th against Columbus State in Matthews, North Carolina for a shot at the National Championship on Sunday December 15
th.
