MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State Mavericks (4-7-1, 2-7-1 WCHA) head east this weekend for a two-game series against the Dartmouth Big Green (0-10, 0-8 ECAC). The games are set for Friday at 5 p.m. CT and Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
Last Time Out:
The Mavericks are coming off a strong performance last weekend, splitting a series against the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. On Friday, the Mavericks fell in overtime, 2-1.
Alexis Paddington scored the lone goal for Minnesota State, with assists from
Sydney Langseth and
Jamie Nelson. Saturday saw a commanding response from the Mavericks, who secured a 4-1 victory.
Taylor Otremba delivered an impressive performance, recording two goals and an assist, while
Claire Vekich and
Madison Mashuga also found the back of the net.
Goaltender
Hailey Hansen played a pivotal role, stopping 66 of 69 shots over the weekend. She posted a .957 save percentage and a 1.46 goals against average, helping the Mavericks take four of six points from one of the nation's top teams.
Taking on Dartmouth:
Lauren Messier has been a bright spot for the Big Green, leading the team with six points, including two goals and four assists. In goal, Michaela Hesova has been a key figure, maintaining a .916 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against average despite the team's struggles.
This marks only the second time the Mavericks and the Big Green will face each other. Their last matchup was in 2004, with Dartmouth claiming a 4-0 victory. Minnesota State will look to capitalize on Dartmouth's challenges and build on their recent success in this weekend's series.
