MANKATO, Minn. – Senior forward
Rhett Pitlick was named CCHA Forward of the Month and freshman defenseman
Luke Ashton was named CCHA Rookie of the Month for October by the conference office on Wednesday (Oct. 30).

Pitlick is tied for the team lead with seven points. His three game-winning goals are first in the CCHA. He also holds a plus-6 rating. His top line minutes on the left wing have helped the Mavericks defeat four top-20 opponents in the month of October.

Coach Strand on Pitlick: "Rhett is a difference maker of a hockey player. His seamless transition as a teammate and aspiring pro around our program has been fully embraced. He has been a very welcome addition."

Ashton leads the CCHA with a plus-8 rating on the Maverick blue line. The freshman is also second on the team with 13 blocked shots (11
th in CCHA). In eight games, he has one goal and three assists for four points, along with 14 shots on goal and four penalty minutes.

Coach Strand on Ashton: "Luke has had a smooth transition to college hockey. The combination of size, skill and space ability has made him effective in all three zones. The honors for both guys are a complement to our whole team as we start our journey."

Josh Kotai (Augustana) won CCHA Goaltender of the Month and Mason Poolman (St. Thomas) took in CCHA Defenseman of the Month honors.

No. 16 Minnesota State (5-3-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) begins CCHA play at Bemidji State on Friday at Sanford Center.
