MANKATO, Minn. --- #5 Minnesota State continues its season with three games over the next week, including home games against St. Cloud State on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and #3 MSU Moorhead on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Mavericks will then travel to Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m., contest.
  
Minnesota State History: The 2023-24 season marks the 102nd campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,431-946 (.602) in 2,377 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 221-105 (.677) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.

Against the Huskies: Friday's game between Minnesota State and St. Cloud State marks their 191st meeting, with the all-time series tied at 95-95. The Mavericks have won their last seven games against SCSU, including a 78-61 road win earlier this season.

Senior Malik Willingham led the Mavericks with 21 points, while junior Kyreese Willingham tallied 20 points and six rebounds. Junior Justin Eagins posted 15 points and six rebounds also.

Luke Taylor and Wyatt Hawks each recorded 10 points and six rebounds. 

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 26-18 record against St. Cloud State, including a 14-8 record at Taylor Center.

Against the Dragons: Saturday's game between Minnesota State and MSU Moorhead marks their 102nd all-time meeting with the Mavericks leading the all-time series 66-35. MSU Moorhead won their most recent encounter 86-76 last season in Moorhead.

Senior Malik Willingham tallied 25 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Malcolm Jones recorded 14 points and five rebounds.

Jacob Beeninga posted 25 points and five rebounds, while Dane Zimmer notched nine points and 11 rebounds.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 15-8 record against MSU Moorhead, including a 10-1 record at Taylor Center.

Against the Bulldogs: Tuesday's game between Minnesota State and Minnesota Duluth marks their 83rd all-time meeting, with MSU leading the series 47-35. The Mavericks defeated the Bulldogs 100-96 in overtime earlier this season.

Senior Malik Willingham recorded 29 points and eight assists, while graduate student Dylan Peeters recorded a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Justin Eagins added 17 points as well.

Drew Blair led the Bulldogs with 34 points and seven rebounds, while Charlie Katona notched a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 23-8 record against Minnesota Duluth, including a 7-5 record on the road.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the week the owner of a 17-1 record, including an 10-1 NSIC record. Last weekend on the road, MSU fell to Minot State 81-71 before defeating UMary 87-71.

As a team, MSU is averaging 91.6 points and 41.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.6% from the field and 38.0% from three point range. The Mavericks have also passed out 302 assists and have forced 213 turnovers.

Senior Malik Willingham is averaging 18.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists a game this season. Junior Kyreese Willingham is posting 13.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game also, while graduate student Dylan Peeters has posted 10.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Junior Justin Eagins is averaging 13.6 points a game also and has connected on 46 three pointers. Graduate student Elijah Hazekamp is averaging 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds a game also.

The Mavericks are led by Matt Margenthaler, who is in his 23rd season at Minnesota State. He owns a career record of 470-210 (.691).

Concerning the Huskies: St. Cloud State enters the week the owner of an 8-10 overall record, including a 4-8 NSIC record. Last weekend at home, the Huskies defeated Wayne State 79-61, before falling to Augustana 77-66.

As a unit, SCSU is averaging 75.7 points and 37.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.3% from the field and 34.7% from three point range. The Huskies have passed out 242 assists and have forced 208 turnovers.

Luke Taylor is averaging 10.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season, while Lucas Morgan has tallied 10.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Jamiir Allen is averaging 10.1 points also, while Anish Ramlall has posted 10.0 points and 2.4 assists a game.

St. Cloud State is coached by Quincy Anderson who is in his second season as head coach of the Huskies. He owns an 18-28 overall record.

Concerning the Dragons: MSU Moorhead enters the week the owner of a 17-1 record, including an 11-1 NSIC record. The Dragons have won their last two games, including home wins against Minnesota Duluth (62-58) and Concordia-St. Paul (79-72) last weekend.

The Dragons are averaging 80.6 points and 36.4 rebounds per game this season while shooting 44.9% from the field and 31.5% from three point range. MSUM has passed out 199 assists and has forced 229 turnovers.

Jacob Beeninga is averaging 18.6 points and 2.8 assists per game, while JaMir Price has tallied 13.7 points and 3.7 rebounds a game. Logan Kinsey is averaging 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds a game also, while Dane Zimmer has posted 9.6 points and 9.2 rebounds a game.

MSU Moorhead is coached by Tim Bergstraser who is in his second season as head coach of the Dragons. He owns a 42-8 record.

Concerning the Bulldogs: Minnesota Duluth owns a 13-5 overall record, including an 8-4 NSIC record. Last weekend on the road, UMD fell to MSU Moorhead 62-58, before defeating Northern State 96-72.

As a team, UMD is averaging 80.9 points and 37.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.2% from the field and 32.6% from three point range. The Bulldogs have passed out 216 assists and have forced 177 turnovers.

Drew Blair is averaging 19.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while Charlie Katona has tallied 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds a game. Joshua Brown is averaging 10.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game also.

Minnesota Duluth is coached by Justin Wieck who is in his sixth season as head coach of the Bulldogs. He owns a 109-47 record.
