CROOKSTON, Minn. --- #2 Minnesota State kept the offense rolling Saturday afternoon on the road as it reached the 100-point plateau for the fifth time this season in its 101-64 win over Minnesota Crookston.
With the win, MSU improves to 16-0, including a 10-0 NSIC record. With the loss, UMC drops to 5-11, including a 2-8 conference. MSU's 10-0 record to open NSIC action has tied its previous best start to NSIC competition set during the 2009-10 season when the Mavericks won their first 10 NSIC games of the season.

The early going of the first half saw the Mavericks build an 8-6 lead in the first five minutes, which included three pointers from both
Elijah Hazekamp and
Justin Eagins. MSU would then extend its lead to eight as it put together an 11-5 run to go up 19-11 with just over 10 minutes to go in the half. Four different Mavericks reached the scoring column during that stretch, including
Malcolm Jones who notched four points.
Leading 32-25 with 4:36 to go in the half the Mavericks kicked into high gear as they would put together a 16-0 run, before taking a 48-28 lead into halftime. MSU made 7-of-9 shots from the field during their 16-0 run as five different Mavericks recorded at least one basket, including
Kyreese Willingham who netted seven of MSU's points.
Kyreese Willingham led all scorers in the first half with 13 points and five rebounds, while Jones added eight points and five rebounds. As a team, MSU shot 55.9% (19-of-34) from the field in the first half and enjoyed a 21-14 advantage in rebounds.
Blaize Sagna led the Golden Eagles in the first half with nine points, while Jordan Mitchell tallied six points and five rebounds. As a unit, UMC shot 35.7% (10-of-28) from the field in the first half.
The Mavericks would lead by double-digit throughout the second half as they led by as many as 40 points before securing the 101-64 win.
A total of 12 Mavericks reached the scoring column, including
Kyreese Willingham who led the Mavericks with 17 points and seven rebounds. Jones finished with 14 points and six rebounds, as he shot 6-of-7 from the field, while Hazekamp posted 13 points.
Malik Willingham and
Harrison Braudis each netted 10 points as well.
Malik Willingham, Eagins and
Brady Williams each passed out five assists as well.
As a unit, MSU shot 60.3% (41-of-68) from the field. The Mavericks also passed out 25 assists and enjoyed a 44-30 advantage in rebounds. The Mavericks dominated in the paint, outscoring the Golden Eagles 60-26.
Sagna led the Golden Eagles with 17 points, while Mitchell finished with nine points.
As a team, UMC shot 36.1% from the field to go with a 12-of-16 (.750) showing from the free throw line.
Minnesota State continues its season on the road this Friday as it takes on the Minot State Beavers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., at Minot State Dome.
