#12 Minnesota State Held to Scoreless Draw Against Huskies

Mankato, Minn. --- No. 12 Minnesota State (5-1-3) found no answers on offense against St. Cloud State (6-2-1) resulting in its third scoreless draw of the season Friday afternoon at The Pitch.

The Mavericks generated some scoring chances and outshot the Huskies 12-7, requiring five saves by SCSU goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland.

Senior Mackenzie Rath notched her sixth clean sheet of the season for her 29th career shutout. Rath moved into second on the MSU all-time shutout leaderboard surpassing Alexa Rabune (2016-19).

"I thought overall we lacked effort today," commented MSU assistant coach Elizabeth Vetter. "We went through the motions instead of going out and attacking another opportunity to make a statement about who we want to be moving forward."

The best scoring chance of the game came on a first half free kick by Allie Williams fifteen yards from the top of the box in the middle of the field.

Williams' curved a right footed kick through traffic but it clanged off the crossbar and bounced straight down. SCSU was first to the rebound.

The Mavericks are back in action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. as they get set to host Minnesota Duluth at The Pitch.
