Mankato, Minn. -- Minnesota State (28-10, 18-5 NSIC) dominate Sioux Falls (10-30, 9-17 NSIC) by a final of 16-6 in seven innings.
The Mavericks' offense showed no mercy scoring 11 runs in the first three innings.
After the Mavericks collected two runs courtesy of RBIs from junior Mikey Gottschalk and freshman Louis Magers, junior Jackson Hauge capped off a four-run first inning with a two-run blast over the left field wall for his sixth homer on the season.
In the next inning, the Mavericks manufactured two runs with the help of errors and a wild pitch leaving Magers two men on with two outs in the top of the second. The first-year super-utility man drove a single into center field knocking in Gottschalk and junior Ryan Wickman to extend the Mavericks' lead to 8-2.
Junior Zach Stroh kept the party going with a leadoff single in the top of the third, later advancing to second on his fifth stolen base of the year. After junior Adam Schneider wore his eighth hit-by-pitch of the season, freshman Matthew Fleischhacker mashed his second homer, extending the Mavericks' lead to 11-2.
After a combined four-run USF rally in the bottom third and sixth, the Mavericks gave it back to the Cougars putting up a five-spot in the seventh inning to implement the mercy rule.
Minnesota State shut down Sioux Falls in the bottom of the seventh ending the game with a final of 16-6.
Dylan Gotto (8-1) got the win for the Maverick going 5 and two-thirds innings surrendering six runs on eight hits
Ben Serie was tagged for the loss going two and one-thirds innings allowing 10 runs on eight hits.
The Mavericks are back in action on Wednesday as they take on Winona State at Bowyer Field for a midweek doubleheader starting at 1:30 p.m.
