WAYNE, Neb. --- The Minnesota State softball team split a pair of road games against Wayne State Saturday afternoon, winning game one 7-1 before falling 14-9 in game two.
MSU now owns a 13-9 on the season, including a 2-2 NSIC record. WSC now owns a 6-21, including a 1-3 conference record.

Minnesota State began the day with a 7-1 win.
Junior
McKayla Armbruster (8-5) picked up the win as she allowed one run in six innings while striking out eight. Grace Lucka (2-8) took the loss as she gave up seven runs, six earned, in five innings of work.
Junior
Kylie Sullivan led off the game with a solo home run in the top of the first to put MSU up 1-0. The Wildcats would tie the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third as Riley Holmberg drove in a run with an RBI-single.
MSU wasted no time jumping back in front in the top of the fourth. Senior
Sydney Nielsen notched a solo home run to left center, before an RBI-double from junior
Sydney Nelson drove in sophomore
Ella Schulz to put the Mavericks up 3-. The Mavericks would add four more runs in the top of fifth to go up 7-1 off a two-run double from junior
Madi Newman and RBI-singles from Schulz and Nielsen.
The Mavericks would strand four Wildcats on base during the final two innings as MSU held the 7-1 win.
Junior
Ellie Tallman, Nielsen and Nelson each tallied two hits. Newman and Nelson each drove in two runs, while Nielsen scored two runs.

Minnesota State finished the day with a 14-9 loss to Wayne State in game two.
Sophomore
Sophia Del Vecchio (4-2) took the loss as she gave up seven runs, six earned, in 1.1 innings. Sami Felt (3-10) earned the win as she gave up eight runs, seven earned, in five innings.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first two innings. WSC started with a four-run first inning, which included a two-run single from Annika Manzanares. Seven different Wildcats would drive in a run in WSC's 10-run second inning, including Natalie Arbizu who notched a three run double and Kim Vidlak who tallied a two run home run.
The top of the third saw the Mavericks score a pair of runs via a fielder's choice and an error. Another two run inning in the top of the fourth, which included RBIs from sophomore
Emma Dennison and sophomore
Cheyenne Behrends cut WSC's lead to 14-4.
MSU then added four more runs in the top of the fifth to make it 14-8. Nielsen drove in a run with a single to center field, before Behrends notched a three-run home run to center field. MSU managed one more run in the top of the seventh as freshman
Gianna Lara drove in a run with a double to right field, but the Mavericks would get no closer as the Wildcats held on to the 14-9 win.
Newman, Behrends and Lara each finished with two hits, with Behrends also leading the team in runs batted in with four.
Minnesota State concludes its road trip on Sunday as it faces the Augustana Vikings. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
