David Silye was named the CCHA
Forward of the Year the league announced this afternoon. This marks the second straight season that a Maverick has earned the award as
Nathan Smith won it a year ago.
Silye, who was one of two unanimous selections to the first team, scored a league-leading 19 goals to go with 10 assists to finish with 29 points, a tally which was the second-highest in the league. Silye's ten power play goals was also lead the league while his face off percentage of 62.2% (314-of-505) was the second best in the conference.
The Arnprior, Ont., native was a three-time
Forward of the Week (Nov. 7, Nov. 28 and Jan. 30) and was named the league's
Forward of the Month in November. Earlier this week, Silye was an unanimous selection to the
First-Team All-CCHA squad.
Minnesota State (24-12-1) hosts Northern Michigan Saturday at 6:07 p.m., for the CCHA Tournament Championship.
