Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State dropped a 4-1 decision to sixth-ranked Wisconsin this afternoon in the opening round of the WCHA playoffs.
With the win, Wisconsin wins the series 2-0 and advances to next week's quarterfinals, while Minnesota State's season ends with a 15-19-1 record.
The Mavericks cracked the scoreboard first late in the first period courtesy of junior
Sydney Langseth's seventh goal of the season.
The Badgers defense locked down the Mavericks' offense through the second and third periods allowing the Wisconsin offense to go to work.
Wisconsin rattled off four unanswered goals in the last 40 minutes to top the Mavericks 4-1.
