Minnesota State Set to Face Wisconsin in WCHA Playoffs After Falling to St. Cloud

Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State (15-18-1, 9-18-1 WCHA) fell to St. Cloud State by a final score of 5-2.

MSU fell into a four-goal deficit late into the second period before responding at the 16:55 mark of the second period. Sophomore Alexis Paddington notched her ninth goal of the season to get the Mavericks on the board.

Jenniina Nylund would stop the mavericks in their tracks slipping one past MSU senior goaltender Alexa Berg for the Huskies' fifth tally of the day.

In the final minutes of the third, the Mavericks continued their power-play success this season as senior Brooke Bryant cashed in on the opportunity for her seventh of the season.

Bryant playing in her 158th game today sits currently second in all-time games played as a Maverick behind only former teammate Brittyn Fleming (2017-22) who owns the record with 161 games played.

Senior goaltender Alexa Berg stopped 24 of 29 shots, raising her goals-against average to 2.74 and dropping her save percentage to .914 while dropping to an 8-8-1 record on the season.

Minnesota State will head into the WCHA playoffs as the sixth seed who will travel to Madison Wisconsin for the best of three elimination series against the Badgers starting February 24th.
