"Our guys from 1-14 were really dialed in all weekend," head coach Matt Margenthaler said. It was a total team effort and that's what we need to continue to see."

The early going of the first half proved to be a back and forth affair as neither team led by more than four points during the first 10 minutes. Justin Eagins paced the Maverick offense with 10 points in the opening 10 minutes and in doing so surpassed 1,000 career points.

With MSU leading 23-22 at the midpoint of the opening stanza, the Mavericks then put together a 30-15 run over the next 8:34 to build a 16-point lead at 53-37.
