Minnesota State Swept by Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio --- Minnesota State (7-12-0, 3-11-0 WCHA) fell to No. 1 Ohio State (16-2-0, 13-1-0 WCHA)  by a final of 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the OSU Ice Rink.

After the Mavericks found themselves down a goal at the halfway mark of the opening period, senior Sydney Langseth found the back of the net for her eighth goal on the season. On the play, sophomore Whitney Tuttle notched her ninth assist on the season. Langseth is the first Mavericks this season to reach 20 points on the year.

The Buckeyes would claim their second goal in the dying minutes of the first period claiming a 2-1 lead. After a scoreless second period, Ohio State added a powerplay tally and an empty net goal completing the sweep.

"A much better defensive showing as we held the number one team in the nation to two goals for a majority of the game, stated acting head coach Shari Dickerman. " We will use the break to regroup and look to start a new winning streak against Lindenwood."

The Mavericks are back in action on January 5th as they come out of the holiday break hosting Lindenwood at the Mayo Clinic HSEC in non-conference play. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
