Bemidji, Minn. --- For the second straight game, eleventh-ranked Minnesota State posted a wire-to-wire road victory as it cruised to a 90-48 victory Saturday afternoon over Bemidji State.
The win pushes the Maverick record to 14-2 overall, and 10-2 in the NSIC.
After doubling up the Beavers, 20-10 in the first period, the Mavericks outscored BSU 20-3 in the second to post a 40-13 halftime advantage and never look back.
Offensively, Minnesota State was paced by sophomore Destinee Bursch who scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including connecting on both of her three-point attempts. Junior Joey Batt added 15 points and a team-high four rebounds, while freshman Natalie Bremer rounded out the Mavericks in double figures with 12 points.
Offensively, all 13 Mavericks who played registered a point in the win. As a unit, Minnesota State shot 42.3% from the floor. The Mavericks forced 25 Bemidji State turnovers, converting them into 20 points, while the MSU bench outscored BSU's, 43-19.
Junior Emily Herzberg and freshman Ava Stier each hauled in a game-high nine rebounds.
The Mavericks wrap up their four-game road swing next week as they travel to Aberdeen, S.D., to take on Northern State. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
