FAYETTE, Iowa --- #19 Minnesota State began its four-match road trip with a 4-0 shutout vs. Upper Iowa.
With the win, MSU improves to 7-1-2 on the season, including a 5-0-2 NSIC record. With the loss, UIU drops to 2-5-3, including a 1-3-3 conference record.
The Mavericks scored three times in the first half to take a 3-0 lead. Senior
Brynn Desens scored third goal of the season in the sixth minute, before senior
Jenny Vetter netted her eighth goal of the year to put MSU up 2-0 in the 24th minute. Freshman
Addison Clarey tallied her second goal of the season in the 36th minute as the Mavericks carried a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
The lone goal of the second half came via
Mali Seran, who notched her third goal of the season to put MSU up 4-0.
Senior
Mackenzie Rath (7-1-2) picked up her fifth shutout of the season as she stopped five shots. Isabelle Wagner (0-4-2) picked up the loss as she allowed four goals, while making four saves.
Minnesota State continues its road trip this Sunday as it takes on the Winona State Warriors at 1:00 p.m.
