Mavericks Get Ready For The UIndy Invitational

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State volleyball team continues its season with another on the road tournament this weekend where it will partake in Indianapolis, Ind. The Mavericks will start off the invitational Friday Sep. 2nd at 8:00 a.m., against Ashland then will face Missouri St. Louis later at 2:00 p.m. MSU finishes up the tournament Saturday Sep. 3rd as it faces host Indianapolis at 8:00 a.m. and Grand Valley State at 2:00 p.m. All time are listed in central standard time.

About the Mavericks: Minnesota State comebacks with more action this weekend looking forward for the UIndy Invitational after last weekend's competition at Rockhurst Classic. The Mavericks picked up a win against Black Hills State while dropping matches to Missouri  Western, Hillsdale and Rockhurst.

Kiya Durant and Toryn Richards are leading the Mavericks with 35 kills each for this start of the season. Makayla Snow leads on assists with a total of 85 for the team. Brenna Hesse is leading the Mavericks with 68 digs.

About the Eagles: Ashland received votes in the first national poll of 2022 and swept ranked No. 15 Winona on their first season opener match. 

Katie Thompson is leading the eagles with 75 digs and Zoey Peck has a total of 146 assists for the team.

Ashland University is coached by Kevin Foeman who led the team to a 25-7 record in his first season as an eagle.

About the Tritons: Missouri St. Louis is picked to finish second in GLVC and is currently on a three-match winning streak.

Lexie Rang had a career high of 18 kills in one match that lead the Tritons to a 3-1 win over Saint Leo. She has 50 kills in total.

Coach Ryan Young enters his 13th season with the Tritons and currently has a record of 205-122 in the program. 

About the Aces: UIndy is picked to finish sixth in GLVC preseason poll and picked up two wins in a row.
 
Hannah Sabotin has 37 kills and eight digs. MaKenna Barnhart lead the Aces with 54 digs.

The Aces are coached by Jason Reed who completed its 10th season with the Aces. He appeared in three NCAA Midwest Regionals.

About the Lakers: Grand Valley State is picked to finish first in GLIAC preseason poll and collected three wins this start of the season.

Jordyn Gates leads the Lakers with 67 kills and 72 digs. Jaelianna Primus also leads the team with 33 kills and 12 blocks

Grand Valley is coached by Jason Johnson who he is entering his 23rd season with the volleyball program.

Coming Up: Minnesota State continues its season September 2nd as it takes part in UIndy Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
