Minnesota State History: The 2022-23 season marks the 101st campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,407-936 (.600) in 2,343 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 203-96 (.678) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.

Against the Golden Bears: Saturday's game between Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul marks their 41st all-time meeting with MSU leading the series 34-6. The Mavericks defeated CSP 96-78 in their most recent encounter at Taylor Center earlier this season.

Junior Malik Willingham recorded a career-high 41 points, to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Sophomores Tyrell Stuttley and Harrison Braudis each recorded 11 points as well.

Antwan Kimmons led the Golden Bears with 34 points and six assists, while Jacob Everson notched 13 points and five rebounds.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 32-5 record against Concordia-St. Paul, including a 15-3 record on the road.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the week the owner of a 10-3 record, including a 4-3 NSIC record. In its most recent outings, MSU fell to both Sioux Falls (71-48) and Southwest Minnesota State (62-58) on the road.

As a team, MSU is averaging 82.1 points and 40.7 rebounds per game while shooting 46.8% from the field. The Mavericks are shooting 37.1% from three-point range and have passed out 188 assists and blocked 54 shots.

Sophomore Kyreese Willingham has tallied 12.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game also, while senior Trevor Moore has posted 11.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game as well.

The Mavericks are led by Matt Margenthaler, who is in his 22nd season at Minnesota State. He owns a career record of 446-200 (.690).

Concerning the Golden Bears: Concordia-St. Paul enters the week the owner of a 3-10 record, including a 1-6 NSIC record. CSP has lost its last three games, including a 79-64 loss to Lincoln in its most recent outing.

As a unit, CSP is averaging 71.4 points and 29.9 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 46.0% from the field and 34.1% from long range. The Golden Bears have passed out 152 assists and have recorded 77 steals.

Antwan Kimmons leads CSP with 19.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Marcus Skeete has tallied 14.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as well.

Concordia-St. Paul is coached by Matt Fletcher who is in his third season as head coach of the Golden Bears and his seventh season overall. He owns an overall record of 83-81.
