Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State falls to the Gophers as it suffered its first loss since October 28th. The Mavericks came out determined to establish their voice with a physical style of play that caught the Gophers by surprise.
At the 13:22 mark of the first period,
Alexis Paddington rips a shot from the high slot which dropped in the paint for a tap in from
Kennedy Bobyck for her third goal on the season.
Heading into the second period, Minnesota looked for a quick response as
Abigail Boreen snuck a backhander by
Alexa Berg on the power play to even the score at one. Minnesota kept its foot on the gas finding the net two more times in the second heading into the third period with a 3-1 lead.
The Mavericks could not find any more answers to Minnesota goaltender
Skylar Vetter as the Mavericks fell to the Gopher 4-1.
Minnesota State is back in action tomorrow on home ice as it gets set for its last meeting with the Gophers in the regular season at 2:00p.m.
