Sioux Falls, S.D. --- #4 Minnesota State remained undefeated Friday evening as it dominated Sioux Falls 92-54 in an NSIC road game.
With the win, MSU improves to 10-0 (6-0 NSIC), while Sioux Falls drops to 4-7 (1-5 NSIC) on the season.
The undefeated Mavericks never trailed in the game and built up the largest lead by 43 points in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks went on a 27-9 point run with seven different MSU players scoring.
At halftime, sophomore Destinee Bursch notched 17 points, freshman Natalie Bremer scored nine points and junior Joey Batt added seven points. The Mavericks closed the second quarter with a 26-point lead against the Cougars 48-22.
During the third quarter, the Mavericks shot 60.87% on field goals (14-of-23) and scored 32 points compared to 19 by the Cougars. MSU closed the third quarter with an impressive 39-point lead at 80-41.
The Cougars outscored the Mavericks13-12 during the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough to get close to MSU as the Mavericks closed the game with a 92-54 win.
Four different Mavericks had double-digits in points. Sophomore Destinee Bursch led all Mavericks with 28 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Junior Joey Batt notched 15 points, eight assists, five steals, and three rebounds. Freshman Natalie Bremer scored 14 points and three rebounds and an assist, while junior Taylor Theusch added 10 points and three rebounds, and an assist.
As a unit, Minnesota State shot a high of 52.7% from the field and scored 31 points off turnovers. MSU also recorded 25 assists, 41 rebounds and 15 steals.
#4 Minnesota State continues its season on the road tomorrow against Southwest Minnesota State. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
