Mankato, Minn.--- After a close match on Thursday between these two programs the Mavericks anticipated Concordia's high tempo and physical play. Today was a much different game where the Mavericks came out swinging, knocking CSP in the mouth early.
Brynn Desens continued her unselfish play, finding her Midfielder
Maillie Mathis wide-open in the box to get the Mavericks on the board in the 17' minute. Minnesota State was able to establish the early lead allowing the Mavericks to play the game aggressively.
With her stellar pass to Mathis,
Brynn Desens is now tied with
Emily Moris (2011-14) and
Morgan Cottew (2015-18) for fourth in MSU all-time assists with 28.
Coming out of the half, Minnesota State continued to ride its momentum resulting in
Maillie Mathis finding
Nadia Lowery for her second goal on the season giving the Mavericks a two-goal cushion in the 53' minute.
Maillie Mathis was a force all day the Golden Bears had no answers for. In the 67th minutes of the match,
Jenny Vetter booted a shot off the hands of the CSP goalkeeper who was unable to recover her rebound.
Mallie Mathis was there to clean up the rebound, grabbing her fifth point of the day.
Once Minnesota State grabbed its three-goal cushion, Head Coach
Brain Bahl handed the rains to the bench substituting out all starters.
Despite pulling all their starters, the Mavericks displayed their depth strength as
Addison Clarey slipped her shot by the CSP goalkeeper in the 81st minute of the Match.
In the dying seconds on the match, Concordia's
Jessica Timpane erased
Mackenzie Rath's bid for another shutout as she snuck one by the MSU goaltender. Minnesota State would go on to win the Match 4-1 advancing to the NSIC Semi-finals on Friday.
Minnesota State will await its opponent and start- time for Friday's match.
