Mavericks Best Golden Bears and Mustangs in Dual Action

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. —- Minnesota State won a pair of duals against Concordia-St. Paul and Southwest Minnesota State Saturday.

MSU defeated CSP 195-65 and SMSU 201-72. The Mustangs defeated the Golden Bears 146-110 as well.

The Mavericks won both diving events as senior Ayla Taylor won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 249.75, while sophomore Sydney Hanson won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 231.10.

MSU also won both relay events. The team of sophomore Ari Meyer, freshman Megan Schultz, freshman Claudia Schwartz and sophomore Maija Carriveau won the 200 medley relay event with a time of 1:51.22. The quartet of Carriveau, junior Olivia Hudoba, junior Ella DeFever and junior Elise Mishmash won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:40.33 also.

Schultz also won a pair of individual events including the 50 freestyle (25.46) and the 200 breaststroke (2:27.04).

Freshman Alexandra Gorecki won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:00.06, while freshman Lauren Fisher won the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.10.

Sophomore Abby Gronholz won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.93, while senior Mari Dougherty won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.09.

Senior Kailyn Arps won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.11, while Schwartz won the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.31.

Minnesota State continues its season on Thursday as it takes on Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
