Sauk Rapids, Minn. --- Led by first, second and third-place individual finishes, the Minnesota State men's cross country team claimed the team title at the 2022 Bob Waxlax Invitational held in Sauk Rapids, Minn., Wednesday.

The 8K event featured 39 individuals and five teams.

The Mavericks combined for 27 points in placing first, while second-place finisher Minnesota Duluth posted a score of 38 points.

Individually, Minnesota State individuals were paced  by junior Tanner Maier, who placed first with a time of 24:46.17, sophomore Ray Ure was second (24:55.38) and senior Ben Schmied was third (24:58.81).

Other Mavericks competing, their place and time included sophomore Adam Bohm (9th, 25:20.98), sophomore Jacob Bennett (12th, 265:40.829), sophomore Nikolai Schmanski (15th, 26:05.00), sophomore Caden Speikers (18th, 26:23.29), freshman Tyler Lee (23rd, 26:58.41), freshman Maquanet Collins (27th, 27:26.40), freshman Tyson Shannon (28th, 27:26.55)

Next action for Minnesota State is the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship meet scheduled for Nov. 5 in Wayne, Neb.
