Mankato, Minn.--- UMarry started the game winning the coin toss and deferred to kick-off. This would play into the Mavericks fast-paced strategy as MSU had 4 shots in the first three minutes to start the game.
The Marauders played physical throughout letting little slip through the middle requiring
Jenny Vetter to use her infamous speed to set up crosses into the box. Many chances were defended well resulting in 12 MSU corner kicks throughout the match.
In the 38th minute,
Anna Wyngarden had a shot blocked with the deflection landing on the foot of
Tia Martin. The senior forward capitalized on her opportunity sending her shot passed a helpless UMary goaltender.
Coming out of halftime, the Mavericks continued their push in efforts to extend the lead, however, the Marauders were ready. MSU repeated its 10-shot performance in the second half accumulating 20 on the day.
In the dying minutes of the match, Umary brought the house including goaltender
Madisyn Waltman over the center line to join the UMary attack. Maverick goaltender
Mackenzie Rath stood strong yet to get her seventh shutout on the year and 18th of her career with a final score of 1-0.
