Pella, Iowa ---  #17 Minnesota State was paced by the first-place performance of junior Kolbe O'Brien at the Central Under Armour Invitational wrestling tournament hosted by Central College in Pella, Iowa, Saturday.

Competing in the 141-lb. bracket, O'Brien won all three of his matches in finishing first at the tournament. Earning third-place finishes for the Mavericks were Michael Smith (165), Trevor Turriff (174), Shane Gibson (184) and Dylan Butts (197). Max Villnow fashioned a fifth-place result.

Next action for Minnesota State is a home Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual vs. UW-Parkside Jan. 13.
