MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's basketball team continues its season on the road as it heads north to take on Minot State this Friday at 7:30 p.m., and the University of Mary on Saturday, at 5:30 p.m.
Minnesota State History: The 2021-22 season marks the 100th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,391-927 (.600) in 2,318 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 194-88 (.687) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.
Against the Beavers: Friday's game between Minnesota State and Minot State marks their 10th meeting with the Mavericks leading the all-time series 8-1. The Mavericks have won their last three meetings against he Beavers, including an 87-79 win at home during the 2019-20 season.
Sophomore
Ryland Holt netted 17 points and six rebounds, while sophomore
Malik Willingham tallied five points and four assists.
Max Cody tallied 13 points and six assists for the Beavers, while Kody Dwyer tallied 11 points and six rebounds.

Matt Margenthaler owns an 8-1 record against Minot State, including a 3-1 record on the road.
Against the Marauders: Saturday's game between Minnesota State and the University of Mary will be their 17th meeting, with MSU leading the all-time series 13-3. The Mavericks have won their last four meetings against the Marauders, including a 69-65 win back during the 2019-20 season.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the week the owner of a 10-4 record, including a 4-4 NSIC record. This past weekend, MSU's games against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston were cancelled.
As a team, MSU is averaging 81.0 points and 38.1 rebounds per game while shooting 49.4% from the field. The Mavericks are also shooting 33.3% from three-point range and have passed out 152 assists and blocked 77 shots.

Quincy Anderson is leading the Mavericks with 18.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season. Junior

Brady Williams is averaging 12.7 points a game, while sophomore

Concerning the Beavers: Minot State enters the weekend the owner of a 10-4 record, including a 4-4 NSIC record. MISU has not played since Jan. 2 when it lost to the University of Mary 80-78.
As a unit, MISU is averaging 85.1 points and 35.6 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 52.4% from the field and 42.1% from three point range. The Beavers have passed out 237 assists and have tallied 83 steals.
Melvin Newbern has tallied a team-leading 15.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this season, while Cam'ron Dunfee has posted 14.1 points a game. Max Cody has tallied 10.9 points and 7.7 assists a game also.
Minot State is coached by Matt Murken who is in his 10th season as head coach of the Beavers. He owns a 114-138 record at Minot State and a 170-154 career record.
Concerning the Marauders: The University of Mary enters the weekend the owner of a 5-11 overall record, including a 4-7 NSIC record. UMary has lost its last three outings, including a pair of home losses against Wayne State (76-69) and Augustana (80-59) last weekend.
As a team, UMary is averaging 69.1 points and 33.9 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 43.3% from the field and 33.1% from the behind three point line. The Marauders have also tallied 202 assists and have recorded 81 steals.
Kai Huntsberry leads the UMary offense with 18.7 points and 4.3 assists per game this season, while Jacob Jackson has notched 9.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Gertautas Urbonavicius has posted 9.2 points per game also.
UMary is coached is coached by Jack Nelson, who is in his first season with the Marauders. He owns a 5-11 record at UMary and a career record of 46-32.
