Minnesota State Women’s Hockey Announces Captains for 2021-22 Season

MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State head coach John Harrington has announced senior defenseman Anna Wilgren team captain for the 2021-22 women's hockey season.

Senior forwards Brittyn Fleming and Claire Butorac as well as senior defenseman Jessica Kondas were named the alternate captains.

Wilgren, a native of Hudson, Wis., is embarking on her second season as the captain of the Mavericks. Entering her senior year, Wilgren owns a career line of 11 goals and 30 assists for 41 points in 88 career points from the blueline which stands third on the Mavericks' all-time defensive scoring list.

Fleming, another Wisconsinite out of Oregon, Wis., will also resume her role alternate captain for the Mavericks suring the 2021-22 season. Entering her fifth season at MSU, Fleming has 24 goals and 45 assists for 69 points in 126 games and stands at 10th on the Mavericks all-time scoring list. 

Kondas, a native of Calgary, Alta., is a blueliner who will also slide back into her spot as a Maverick alternate captain for the 2021-22 campaign. In 121 career games, Kondas owns an 8-7--15 line over four seasons of action.

Butorac, out of Andover, Minn., is the Mavericks' newest member to dawn alternate captain status. In three seasons, Butorac has skated in 92 games scoring 11 goals while assisting on 11 others for a total of 22 points in her Maverick career.

The 24th season of Minnesota State women's hockey begins Sept. 24-25 when the Mavericks travel to North Andover, Md., to take on Merrimack.
