Schmitz Named Men's Golf Coach

Mankato, Minn. --- Alex Schmitz has been named head coach of the Minnesota State men's golf program.

A native of Faribault, Minn., Schmitz has served as the Director of Golf/Head Boys Varsity Coach at Faribault High School since 2017. Schmitz, who spent the 2012-13 season as a member of the Bemidji State men's golf team, was an assistant coach/swing coach with the boys and girls golf program at South Washington Schools (East Ridge High School) in 2017.

"We are pleased to select Alex as the next coach of the Maverick men's golf program," said Kevin Buisman, Minnesota State Director of Athletics. "We have had a tremendous amount of success over the years and expect that to continue under Alex's leadership. His familiarity with high school and junior golf in the state of Minnesota, along with a passion for serving and developing young people, will serve our program well."
