Mankato, Minn. --- Junior center Nathan Smith has been named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Week following his performance in two wins over Michigan Tech last weekend.

Smith, a Hudson, Fla., native, registered four points over the course of home weekend league sweep over the Huskies. He scored the overtime game-winning goal in last Friday's 2-1 victory and then had a hand in all three goals with a goal and two assists in a 3-1 win Saturday. Smith, who won 16 of 30 face-offs (.533) in the two games, leads Minnesota State in scoring and stands tied for second nationally with 11-15--26 in 18 games played.

This is the second time this year that Smith has been named CCHA Forward of the Week.

The #1-rated Mavericks, who stand 14-4-0 overall and stand atop the CCHA standings with a 10-2-0 league, are at Bemidji State for a pair of league games this Friday and Saturday.
