MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's basketball team will open NSIC action this Tuesday on the road as it takes on Concordia-St. Paul at 7:30 p.m. The Mavericks will then return home to take on Bethany Lutheran College on Friday at 6:00 p.m., and Waldorf on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Minnesota State History: The 2021-22 season marks the 100th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,384-923 (.599) in 2,307 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 190-84 (.693) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.
Against the Golden Bears: Tuesday's game between Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul marks their 38th all-time meeting with MSU leading the series 30-7. The Mavericks have won their last 14 games against CSP, including a pair of road wins (86-58 & 93-89) last season.

Devonte Thedford averaged 22.5 points, while shooting 66.7% from the field against the Golden Bears last season, while sophomore
Quincy Anderson notched 17.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Caden Hoffman posted 13.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game against the Mavericks last season, George Scharlau tallied 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Matt Margenthaler owns a 29-5 record against Concordia-St. Paul, including a 14-3 record on the road.
Against the Vikings: Friday's game between Minnesota State and Bethany Lutheran College will be their sixth all-time meeting with MSU leading the series 5-0.
All five meetings have taken place in Taylor Center, including most recent meeting during the 2012-13 season when the Mavericks posted a 100-42 win.

Concerning the Golden Bears: Concordia-St. Paul enters the week the owner of a 1-3 record. CSP has lost its last three outings, including a pair of nonconference losses to Bemidji State (82-67) and Minnesota Duluth (99-76) last week.
As a unit, CSP is averaging 69.8 points and 34.3 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 41.2% from the field and 23.1% from three point range. The Golden Bears have passed out 59 assists and have committed 58 turnovers.
Marcus Skeete is leading the CSP offense with 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season, with Elijah Ormiston following right behind with 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds a game.
Concordia-St. Paul is coached by Matt Fletcher who is in his second season with the Golden Bears. He owns a 2-16 record with CSP and a 78-49 overall career record.
Concerning the Vikings: Bethany Lutheran College owns a 3-2 record. Last weekend the Vikings fell to Letourneau University 102-86, before besting Carroll University 81-76.
As a team, BLC is averaging 79.4 points and 42.6 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 44.3% from the field and 24.4% from behind the three point line. The Vikings have passed out 75 assists but have committed 97 turnovers.
Brian Smith leads BLC with 21.7 points per game this season. Hunter Nielsen has tallied 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game as well, while Jacob Milinovich has notched 9.4 points and 8.2 rebounds a game.
Bethany Lutheran is coached by Pat Garvin who is in his second season. He owns a 9-6 record.
Concerning the Warriors: Waldorf enters the weekend the owner of a 2-7 record, including a 68-64 loss to Clarke University in its most recent outing.
During their last game, the Warriors were led by Bryanth Farr who notched a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Tyree'on Johnson also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
As a team, Waldorf shot 37.3% from the field against Clarke, including a 31.8% showing from downtown. The Warriors outrebounded Clarke 46-34.
Waldorf is coach by Nigel Jenkins, who is in his 11th season. He owns a 123-166 record.
