Mankato, Minn. ---The Minnesota State volleyball team (11-12) will enter the week playing three of their last five regular season contest. The Mavericks start on the road as they travel to #11 Winona State in Winona, Minn., Wednesday, November 3rd to avenge their loss to the Warriors earlier in the season. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. Then Mavericks head home for their final to home contest of the season. Friday Novmeber 5th, the Mavericks square off against the Dragons of MSU Moorhead at Taylor Center with first serve slated for 6:00 p.m. Then the Mavericks wrap the weekend up with a match against Northern State Saturday, November 6th at Taylor Center with first serve at 2:00 p.m.
Mavericks at a Glance: The Mavericks are coming off a weekend of NSIC action where they went 0-2. Junior Jessica Nelson led the team with 19 kills (2.72 K/S). Senior Dana Schindler led the team with 30 assists. Senior defensive specialist and libero Mara Quam led the Mavericks with 32 digs on the weekend. Freshman Kiya Durant led the team with 5 blocks on the weekend.-
Impact Mavericks: Minnesota State is led on defense by senior defensive specialist Mara Quam who has recorded 373 digs (4.44/s) on the season. With these digs Quam is fifth in the NSIC. Junior outside hitter Mariah Edgington leads the way in kills with 201 (2.58/s) this season. Freshman middle blocker Kiya Durant has recorded 95.0 blocks (1.25/s). With the 95 blocks Durant is first in the NSIC as a freshman.
Looking Back: The Mavericks recorded an 0-2 record this past weekend in their matches against #7 Concordia-St. Paul and the University of Upper Iowa. Losing to the Golden Bears 0-3 and the Peacocks 1-3.
By the Numbers: This past weekend the Mavericks recorded 62 kills (8.86/s). Additionally, Minnesota State added 58 assists (8.28/s) and 102 digs (14.57/s).
