Duluth, Minn. --- #3 Michigan scored the last two goals of the game in picking up a 3-2 win over top-rated Minnesota State to claim the 2021 IceBreaker Tournament championship Saturday in Duluth, Minn.
The Mavericks, who owned 29-19 lead in shots on goal in the contest, held a 2-1 lead after forty minutes of action, but could not hold off the Wolverines, who remained undefeated for the season with the win.
After a scoreless first period, Michigan got on the board first when defenseman
Nick Blankenburg 's rocket from the point found the back of the net at the 54-seconds mark of the second. Minnesota State senior forward
Julian Napravnik roofed a shot when he tallied at 13:55 to even it up with his third goal of the season. Then, at 19:11, junior winger
Ryan Sandelin tallied a power play marker when he found a loose puck in front of the net in giving the Mavericks their first lead of the game and after two periods of action, Minnesota State led 2-1.

Dryden McKay at 4:20 to tie the score and
Brenden Brisson's one-timer off of the rush from the right circle sealed the win for Michigan.
Senior netminder
Dryden McKay, who turned aside 16 shots in the game, stands 4-2-0 for the year and is now 79-17-4 for his college career.
Minnesota State, which stands 4-2-0 for 2021-22, returns to action Oct. 29 and 30 when Northern Michigan visits the Key City for a pair of Central Collegiate Hockey Association games.
